IWSG: June 2016

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time.

You know the person who comments on your blog the day before this month’s IWSG entry is due? Yeah, that’s me. Always.
I leave my comment notifications “unread” all month long, hoping I’ll get an hour of free time to catch up, but time always seems to evade me. Next thing I know, my IWSG reminder pops up for the new month, and I’m in a scrambling panic. Does this ever happen to you?
It leaves me wondering if I’m doing the IWSG an injustice by treating it as a chore (regardless of how much I enjoy it). Should I bow out or keep plodding along? Hmm...
In other news, amidst all of my other contractual obligations, I finally managed to pass the midway point in my earthquake WIP. It’s all downhill from here, baby! (I hope.) This feels like the best work I’ve written to date, so I’m a little excited.

P.S. The seventeen-year cicadas are everywhere, and it's SO LOUD.

Question of the Week:

What are you working on?

I bet it is the best work you've written yet. I'm excited too!

Blogging for me is a constant tug-o-war, say nothing about IWSG. I find the only way to keep from questioning or stressing is to require. This is part of my weekly routine. That routine is up for reevaluation from time to time, but I have my allotted hours on Wednesday. Other than that, people will just have to wait to hear from me.

Sometimes, it can feel like a chore, because there's so many comments and so many people to visit and reply back to. I always try to keep up with the comments as they come in so I don't get buried under them later.

I remember hearing that you were writing a disaster book or series, and I joked because I have my disaster series. Now I'm sweating because I just came out with an earthquake book. ;) But I love disasters and would love to read your earthquake book when it comes out.

I still enjoy the camaraderie of blogging and especially the IWSG. I really like being able to offer support and encouragement. And to receive it as well. :)

Good luck on your WiP!

I'm marketing Matowak and getting ready for its release November 1. I'm also organizing and cleaning our big house for any potential buyers. We've had it on the market a month already. No bites. I'm also trying to work on my WIP, but failing miserably. I'm not making any long term plans because getting through one day at a time is difficult enough. Not that life isn't good. It is. It's just busy.

Hope you're feeling better.

Blogging does feel like a chore sometimes, especially when you can't think of anything to write and you know you should be working on your manuscript. But I still find it rewarding, so I keep doing it.

Good luck rolling downhill in your book!!!

@Crystal - Yay! Now I'm excited that you're excited. :D

I think I'm going to have to do it your way. Back in the day, I could manage to fit it in whenever, but anymore I'm just swamped. Timed to start carving out time!

@Chrys - That's a good system. I should try to do that more!

Your earthquake book is out already? I must go obtain it! Wait. I should probably wait until mine is finished. Hmm... it shall be my reward for finishing! :D

@Madeline - I know what you mean. The camaraderie can't be beat. :) Thank you so much!

@Mark - Thank you! :)

@Joylene - Woohoo! You know I love hearing about you marketing and getting ready for releases. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. :)

Good luck with your house and WIP!

@Ken - You're right. The reward outweighs the struggle. :)

@Cathrina - Thank you! :D

Please don't bow out! There are several who only post this day and it keeps them grounded. Let that be you.

I hear you on comments on the like... which is partly why I'm commenting here twelve days later. >_< But yeah, blogging does feel like a chore sometimes, and there are times when I feel like giving it up, because it really seems like I'm talking about the same problems over and over again. But it can be really helpful to hear from other people, so I stick with it.

As for what I'm working on, I'm desperately trying to find anything among my plots-in-progress to work on before I have to start editing STARWIND, as I hate being so damn non-productive. Grr. Arg.

A new MS??? So excited for you!! I was let go for not posting enough in IWSG Haha! Ah well.

@Alex - I'm trying! It's just probably a bad sign that I'm replying on the last day of the month... *cough*

@Mason - I did four years of regular blogging, and then I just... stopped. xD Did you find a plot-in-progress to work on?

@Tamizzle - Yes! It's a disaster novel, and I love it. Oh, don't worry. I'll probably be next. LOL
