2. For those of you who aren't on Facebook, here are a few recent puppy pics—just because. ;)
3. Massive change is coming to NA Alley! I wrote a letter outlining the first steps...
Question of the Week:
Do you have any signing tips for me?

Bring chocolate. :D And have fun. Talk to people.
Love your puppy. Reminds me of mine. Have fun at the signing.
He's cute!
You're going to have a lot of fun hanging out with Tara and Elizabeth.
Your puppy is getting so big! Don't they grow so fast? I hope you have a blast at the signing.
Have fun!
And don't assume anything, especially the spellings of names. ;)
Have loads of fun at the festival! Big shouts to Elizabeth and Tara. You guys are going to have a blast!!
Cute puppy pics. Love the bubble chatter :-)
and I look forward to seeing what's happening with NA Alley.
Some of my friends dress in a costume relating to their book. I supply plenty of wrapped candies. That draws the men. Smile at everyone even if they growl back.
Whatever you do, don't be yourself! People hate it when authors act like normally awesome people. And arrive in a limo. :P
Cute pup!
At the signing, make sure you don't spend your time turned inward yakking it up with your author pals--look out, smile and be friendly. Have a great time!
First of all, the changes at NA Ally sound good! As far as signing, I've done a few. I signed at BEA this year in two different booths. One tip to help connect with your readers is to ask about them. Nothing too complex or that would require a longwinded answer, but something that lets them know you are interested in the lives of you readers and potential readers. And get biz cards of librarians, teachers, bookstore owners and the like! Have fun.
Have a great signing. Wish I could be there to say hello and grab my copy in person.
I watched some pros at signings before I published. They had all their cards etc. next to a dish of candy. One trick I learned was how to ask the "fan" to leave when a line was forming behind them and you needed to get to the next person. Push the candy toward them, say thank you so much. Please have a candy. It worked for some stars.
Can't wait to see you there! You will rock it!!
Lady! You have a new profile picture on blogger. I almost didn't recognize you. (Almost being the key there.) I'm wishing I could stop into Ohio in September. That would be epic.
Only signing tip I can think of is what Melissa said above - ask how people spell their names if you're even a little bit unsure. Nobody wants their book signed wrong, and some people might be too nervous to correct an author whose work they love. >_<
I wish I lived closer to that area! It would be so exciting to meet all three of you! How fun that you will all be together.
Kelly Hashway did a great post back in April about her tips for author signings. Here is the link to the post: http://kellyhashway.blogspot.com/2014/04/writer-wednesday-tips-for-author.html (I had book marked it for future reference)
Best of luck to all three of you! :)
For me or the readers? *grins*
Thanks, Donna!
Thanks, Natalie! If yours plays the cute card like Tucker does, you must be exhausted. LOL
Thanks, Captain! I can only imagine what kind of mischief we'll get into. :D
Oh my goodness, yes! He's six months old and over forty pounds. It's going to take all of my royalties just to feed him. xD
Thank you!
Thanks! Oh, I definitely won't assume. I've seen the way people spell Carrie.
Kari, Kerri, Kerrie, Kerry, Keri, Carey, Cari, Karrie...
Thanks, Angela! I hope so. :D
Big things! NA Alley's growth is going to be considerable...
Aww, man! I wish I had a book with distinctive dress in it. I would be all over that. (As a recovering marketer, I have no shame gene.)
Smiles and candies—got it! Thank you. :D
That's a good idea. Being myself might scare them away... ;)
No socializing with those troublemakers, Elizabeth and Tara—got it! *grins* Seriously, though, thank you!
Thank you so much for the advice, Catherine! I appreciate it. :)
That is a brilliant trick, Lee! I'm all for being polite, yet efficient. ;)
Thank you!
I can't wait, either! :D
Oops! I had one of my identity crises and decided to go red. Sorry about that. LOL
I wish you could stop by, too!
Good point, Mason! Thank you. :D
I wish you did, too!
Thank you so much for the link. It was really helpful! I really appreciate it. :D
