[Linkage] P is for Publishers

Note: My A-Z theme is linkage. Every day (at 7:00 a.m. EST), I'm going to list three helpful industry links per letter, and then I'll ask for suggestions in the comments—that way, we can pool our resources! :)

P is for Publishers:
  • Preditors & Editors - A good resource to check out before you query.2018 UPDATE: Preditors & Editors is no more, but Reedsy has a great page on Author Scams and Publishing Companies to avoid!
  • Absolute Write Water Cooler - There's a discussion for just about every pub out there. Take all opinions with a grain of salt.
  • Sharon Bayliss' "Researching Small Presses" - A reminder to do your homework. ;)

Do you have a publisher? How did you find them?

P.S. #NALitChat is going to be a Google+ hangout tonight--kind of like a New Adult panel. You can find details here. :)

I can't remember what website listing led me to my publisher, although I do remember browsing through Preditors and Editors.

I found mine by a tip on query tracker. There was very little info about World Castle, so I asked a fellow querier who had published with Karen, the owner, he was a fan, so I gave it a shot!

I hadn't heard of Researching Small Presses. That sounds excellent. Thanks, Carrie.

I have a publisher. Me, myself, and I. That's about as good as it gets at the moment.

I missed yesterday's. Dang. Off to check it out next. As for my publisher, I was introduced by the distributor of my first novel. No, that doesn't happen often. I was very fortunate.

Great resources. Absolute Write does seem to have a thread for everything and they'll let know know their opinions, good and bad.

I go through phases with AW. I'll hang out until I read someone's super ranty thread, and then I'll need a little distance from the negativity. (Lest I join in. LOL)
