[Linkage] J is for Job

Note: My A-Z theme is linkage. Every day (at 7:00 a.m. EST), I'm going to list three helpful industry links per letter, and then I'll ask for suggestions in the comments—that way, we can pool our resources! :)

J is for Job

Do you have any tips for treating this like a "real" job?

Not my best topic. I'm just trying to get a publishable book written. LOL (*marketing-genius-Carrie cringes* :P)

I guess my only tip is to enjoy the heck out of whatever process you have. I look at writing as my way to treat myself and see just how well I can set my story into motion.

I wish writing could be my main job, but I'm fewer than 7 years from retirement. Ugh

Great links! It does help to treat writing like a job. It really is one, albeit unpaid for me right now, but then my volunteer work is unpaid and any good volunteer treats that type of work professionally.

I'm bookmarking these for sure...Especially the first, on scheduling

Sweet! Thank you, Yelena. :D

Pfft! I may be organized, but I'm terrible with structured schedules. I end up spinning around in my chair going, "ADD, ADD, ADD..."

That's a great way to look at it, Lee! :)

So close, Donna! You can make it. :D

Don't make me come over to WV and have an intervention! ;)

No problem, Mark! :)

Exactly! We should take pride in all work we do, not just the paid variety. :)

*Grins* Well, as long as it was a good show and/or movie...

Thanks, Joylene!

I'm glad to hear that, David! :)

Turning up every day is the key trick! You need consistency.

I agree. Consistency is the key to most things. :)

Carrie Butler said...

Yeah! No problem, Sheena-kay. :)

I've been slacking off a lot recently, so these links are the motivation I need to get myself re-focused.

Me too! :)
