Note: My A-Z theme is linkage. Every day (at 7:00 a.m. EST), I'm going to list three helpful industry links per letter, and then I'll ask for suggestions in the comments—that way, we can pool our resources! :)
C is for Contests:
- Yelena Castle's "Contests & Giveaways in the Writing World" - This is an author who takes the time to list opportunities every other Monday. Definitely worth a follow.
- Poets & Writers' Writing Contests, Grants & Awards - These are more traditional contests, and many of them require an entry fee, but the listing is helpful and kept up-to-date.
- Cupid's Literary Connection - You know who hosts a ton of pitch contests? Cupid!
Where do you hear about writing contests?

LOL I'm not involved in the AtoZ challenge and I managed to blog about contests today. I even have two C's in my title. That was completely by accident.
Usually I hear about contests through other blogs or someone posts about it on the YARWA loop.
Except for professional awards (not won) I haven't entered any contests. I think your blog has so much great information!
I've entered a few contests and the Poets and Writer's link is awesome!
Fantastic links, Carrie! Thanks for sharing! :D
Try CRWROPPS--lists contests and submission opportunities daily.
Great links! I didn't know about Yelena Casale's lists.
I love doing contests. even if i don't get selected, it's a great way to get to know the community and get feedback on your work.
Yay contests!
I used to visit Cupid on a daily basis and enter hers whenever I was eligible. I kinda miss that.
Great links, Carrie! Thanks.
Here's another link:

It's mostly Twitter for writers, but there are 4 contest-related Tweeps at the bottom. ;)
I usually hear about them on Twitter or on writing blogs I follow.
Two C's without trying? That's just showing off, Stina... *grins*
Kidding. Actually, it's awesome. Here's the link for everyone skimming the comments: The Contest Circuit.
Thank you so much, Commonweeder! :)
Thanks, Regina! I hope it's helpful to you. :)
I hear about them when people like you post them!
Thanks, Clare! I'm happy to share.
(Rhyming unintentional, but nonetheless entertaining. *grins*)
Oo, I'll have to check it out. Thanks, thelmaz! :)
Yelena is great about finding contests and giveaways, especially ones around the blogosphere. :) Thanks, Connie!
Exactly, Prerna! That's a perfect way to describe it. :)
Yay, indeed!
Me too! Though, I don't miss the speed parts. Those always killed me! LOL
No problem, Lee! Thank you. :)
Oo, good call, Melissa! Thank you. :D
Word of mouth (and fingers) is a powerful thing!
I like this method! Thanks, Alex. :D
Thanks for including my blog! :) I'll go check out the others today.
I've always wanted to enter a contest but a lot of them cost some serious $$ to enter. My college budget barely allows me to even go to Walmart :D
No problem! Thank you for being such a great resource. :)
Great links. I always enjoy contests. Brenda Drake also runs regular pitch contests to get an agent: http://brenleedrake.blogspot.co.uk/
Have you seen the movie REDBELT, yet? If you find it, don't be dismayed by the cover. It's about contests, only of a different sort...
okay, the movie has absolutely nothing to do with your post, or these contests, but i still think you'd like it!
Try some of the speed-based contests on blogs and Twitter. They're usually free, and they're wonderful opportunities. :)
Oo, I knew I was forgetting a few bloggers! Yes, you're right. Brenda Drake is fantastic. So, is Deana Barnhart. :D
I haven't seen it, but now I'm intrigued! Thanks, Joylene. :D
Seriously, I'm so glad that I found your blog. Great info!
How convenient!

I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you. :)
Glad to help! :)
