Interview with Kelley Lynn!

Guess who's here today? It's my pub sister, Kelley Lynn! She was kind enough to let me interrogate interview her, so I thought I'd share it with all of you. :)

Welcome, Kelley! For those unfortunate souls who haven't had the pleasure of reading Fraction of Stone, why don’t you tell us a little about it? I would love to! Here's my cop out. (The back of the book ;))

Wind tunnels, torrential rains and earthquakes tear apart Casden. The cause of the world’s imbalance is unknown, but the mounting occurrences suggest there’s little time before life ceases to exist.

Rydan Gale and Akara Nazreth are the only humans with the ability to wield magic. The tattoo on their necks and the discovery of an ancient book, dictate they are the key to the world’s survival.

But the greatest obstacle for saving mankind isn’t the bizarre creatures, extreme betrayals and magic-fearing men hunting them.

It’s that Akara doesn’t believe the world is worth saving.

I'll add to that! Check out this blurb from the praise page:
"Lynn has forged a delightfully flawed world, made brilliant by magic and fantasy." ~Carrie Butler, author of Strength

This is going to be a series, right?
(Think of this as more of a demand than a question.)
Oh yes it will be! Right now I'm thinking four books. But I'm a complete panster so things tend to change whenever I attempt an outline.

Woohoo!

What’s the best thing about working with a small press?
Oh man. One thing? :) I think the best thing is it really feels like a family. They run all decisions by you, yet are more than willing to make the executive ones when you're being indecisive. (Not that I know this from personal experience...haha). And being able to create your cover is SO awesome. AND the timeline is so much shorter than for a large pub.

Okay, I cheated. That was like three things. Haha

That's okay. I couldn't agree more!

How does it feel to have your debut novel out there in the hands of readers?
There are no words. Seriously. Which is funny to say since I'm an author. Eep! I'm an author. Haha. But for real...I write because it keeps me sane (these voices won't shut up unless I put them on paper) but I also write because I want people to read my work. I want them to feel it, live it, think about it after they've finished. The fact that it's happening right now is just amazing.

Yessssss...

Fast Questions!

If you could have dinner with any author—alive or dead—who would it be, and what would you have?
I would have sushi. That part is easy. :) As far as who I'd want to have dinner with? I think I'd want to eat with Veronica Roth, author of Divergent. Her books (Divergent, Insurgent, 3rd unnamed coming out this Fall) are just so well written and so smart. She's very talented and even younger then me, I think. I follow her blog and she seems really nice.

I would totally crash that dinner, because I love her books and how much she has accomplished. (She's younger than me, too!)

You're writing. Is it light or dark outside?
Right now, it's dark. But really I write whenever I can find time. If I'm traveling for the day job, at the airport, in an airplane, at a hotel, it could be light or dark. If I'm at home its usually dark, but not necessarily. I just write whenever I can :).

Nice!

You’re stressed. What’s the first thing you reach for?
Music. Hopefully I can sing along with it too. (So like, not in a grocery store or something...haha)

Wait. We're not supposed to sing in the grocery store?

Soft drinks! Do you call them pop, soda, or coke?
Oh, it's soda :)

Those 500-ish miles between us must include the pop/soda line.  ;)

Try to sum up Fraction of Stone's Release Day in three words.
Writing community's amazing. ;)

I'll second that!

And who’s your favorite interviewer/NA paranormal romance author, whose name rhymes with Keri Putler? ;)
CARRIE BUTLER!!!!

*Gasp* What an unexpected, but delightful answer!

Seriously, thank you for coming over, Kelley. We all wish you the very best of luck with Fraction of Stone! :)

This writing community is amazing all right!
And working with a smaller publisher is great. I'm a person, not a number.

Fabulous interview, so nice to get the inside story on Kelley Lynn. I'm with you on the music... but then you knew that, LOL. Let's rock together (or bop or pop or whatever, as long as it's sing-along-to-able). Good luck with the tour, rock on! X
