New Year, New Website!

So, I have a website.

...Well, kind of. I toyed around with Weebly this weekend, but I only had a vague idea of what I wanted. (I must be a web-pantser!) In its present state, it gives me a romance/friendly neighborhood bar vibe, which isn't half bad--even though I sort of mutilated the original template.

It's nothing fancy-pants, but it will do for now. I just wanted to have a centralized, semi-solid web presense before I query later this month (or next). Know what I mean?

What about you guys? Do you have a website? Do you plan on getting one?

---------------------------------------------------------
Okay, now that we have that out of the way... tell me how your holidays went! :)

I love your new website! I have one too:
http://lydiaykang.com and it's pretty simple. It might get more complicated later. I like your news tab, for example.

Happy New Year!

I love your website! It rather kicks ass, my friend. And it's kinda sexy. :)

I have an official website, which hardly anyone ever visits: www.jenniferhillier.org. Mostly people find my blog.

Happy new year! Wishing you wondrous and amazing things for 2012!

I have to admit, it's better than the last on you tried. Will we have to refer to you in the third person as well?
And Shh on the news page. I won't tell a soul ;o) (it's very cool though)

Fun blog! I love the theme, the colors, and the pictures. It's easy to navigate and I can tell that it's tailored for you. Best wishes to you in 2012!

Sounds great! I have a Weebly site also, but that may change. We'll see. It's all a pantster thing for me, and I think it takes some time to figure out what works best for you. Happy New Year! Our holidays were great, and I'm sorry they're all over. I hope your holidays were fabulous as well!

Congratulations! I have to revamp my blog this month (hopefully) - don't even know where to start, but I've got some people who said they'd help, whew.

And did you get my query critique? Can't wait for NaNoRevYe to resume :D I just emailed everyone.

Very spiffy site, Carrie, nice job! I do not have a site of my own yet. Should I? Probably. Will I? Probably. Just not yet.

Ah, yes, the query process (starts biting nails) - I'm looking forward to it...

Holy crap! I LOVE it! I wish my website looked that good. Awesome job.

Just saw the website. Love it!!! Congrats. What a great way to kick off the new year. :)

@Lydia - Thank you! Ooo, I like yours! Very clean, very minimalist chic. :) Happy New Year!

@Jennifer - Thank you! Oh man. Your website looks awesome. It has a great vibe for a thriller author. Too flippin' cool! :)

@Iain - Aww, you should've told me you didn't like the first attempt. Hah! I knew someone would notice that. You rock!

@Emily - Thank you! I appreciate that. Best wishes to you, too! :)

@April - Thanks! Mine went pretty well. I enjoyed some family time. :) Your Weebly site looks great! Yes, I tracked it down because I'm a creepy, creepy stalker. (Okay, so it was on your Google profile... thing.) Very nice! Happy New Year to you, too!

@Sophia - Thank you! Oh, it's always great to have help. I enlist friends whenever I can. :) I am so glad you started NaNoRevYe back up! I'm hoping to send my query to you guys this week. :)

@Jeff - Thank you very much! Ah, one thing at a time, right? ;) When you do look into it, those Weebly (free) sites aren't bad at all!

*gulp* Y-Yeah... me too...

@Lisa - Thank you! Aww, I like your site. It's so easy to navigate. Then again, if you ever want to switch over to one of these Weebly templates, I'll help you tweak it! :)

@Roland - Thank you very much! The same to you. :)

@Mina - Thank you! I really appreciate that! :D

A website? Awesome to the nth!

Someday, I'll be able to say "I knew her when...."

Best~~

I checked out your site. I'm digging the vibe.

I don't have one at this time. Still contemplating about that. Hmmm...

Now you've got me thinking.

Iain said...

I did like the first one, but this one is better ;o)

Wow, great site Carrie!!! Love it:) Trisha and I just launched one a while back, but it probably won't have tons of changes on it all that often. Still reading FYI - don't kill me for being slow:(

Brilliant. I appreciate a striking website, and yours has a magnetic draw. Very good. I seriously need to get one started. The blog serves that purpose for now.

Happy New Year! :)

Cool website! I always want to get one but I just never have the time to work on it. I may in the near future though...

I have a web site, love it, but don't interact much there. I spend most of my time on my blog and then reading others. I am flying out tomorrow to do a reading in Manitoba on Friday. I'm visiting family meantime. Then I'm flying out on the 11th for New Brunswick. You'd think I liked flying. I don't. But a writer/grandmother's gotta do what a slash writer slash grandmother's gotta do.

Happy New Year, Carrie. Your webpage does a good job of showing your style and personality. Guess you know you're going places in 2012, eh! Can't wait to see what happens next.

Janet Johnson said...

Wow. Good for you! And best of luck with the querying. Exciting times, for sure.

I do not have a website, just my blog. But maybe someday. :)

Cool looking site, Carrie.

Setting up a site of my own is in my mind, but being more plotter than pantser I need time to devote to how it will look and what it will contain. Lots of ideas = lots of work + no time right now :(

Melodie said...

Oooh, your web site looks nice *wishes wistfully for tech-savvy* No web site of my own but I'll probably have to develop one this year. Sigh.

My holidays were very nice. I hope yours were too!

Carrie Butler said...

@Bryce - Thank you! :) I don't know who would be impressed by that, but I'd like to believe someone would! *grins* I hope all is well!

@Angela - Thanks! Thinking is good. You should play around with it. :D

@Iain - Ohh! Okay. Thank you. :)

@Lindsay - Why thank you! I love your site, too. (I'm not biased because you guys are awesome or anything...) Take your time. I know you've still got kiddos running around. ;)

@David - Aww, thank you. That's so kind of you to say! :) Hmm, maybe playing around with a website could be one of your goals for 2012. Couldn't hurt, right? Happy New Year!

@Clarissa - Thank you! I hope you find the time. I'd certainly be interested to see what you come up with. :)

@Joylene - Thank you! Happy New Year to you, too. :)

Of course, you know I had to go check out your site after you mentioned it. Very cool! I love the photos and the lovely song that accompanied them.

As for your schedule, wow! I'm going to have to start calling you Wonder Woman! Or Wonder Writer/Grandmother! Safe travels. :)

@Janet - Thank you! I'll take all the luck I can get. ;) Here's to hoping it's someday soon. I'd love to see it!

@Botanist - Thank you! Ah, yes. Plotting can be very time consuming (and very worthwhile). I hope you get a break in your schedule soon! :)

@Melodie - Thank you! I'm glad to hear yours were nice. I had a lovely time with my family. It was just the "recharge" I needed. :)

Nicole Zoltack said...

Very nice! I should really update the info on mine...

I stopped by from Alex's blog and now I'm your newest follower. Nice to "meet" you!

Carrie Butler said...

@Nicole - Thank you! It's nice to "meet" you, too! I'll be over to follow yours soon. It's always nice to meet a fellow romance writer. :D

I've secured my domain name, but it's linked to my blog right now. I've heard of authors who waited to sell before they tried to get their name and found out they were already owned by porn stars. Ouch!

Golden Eagle said...

I love your new website! Nice design--and great picture in the center of the homepage. :)

I don't plan on getting a personal website in the near future (though if I get published, I'll probably check it out) but I am planning on a website of another kind. As you may have read in my post, its subject is top secret. ;)

Carrie Butler said...

@Donna - Porn stars? Yikes! Good thing you've already secured your domain name! :)

@Eagle - Thank you so much! I appreciate that. :) Aww, man! You're making me really curious about your secret project!

Becky Wallace said...

I don't think I'm fancy enough for a web site...but maybe someday! Til I'll live vicariously through you.

Carrie Butler said...

@Becky - You're plenty fancy, but feel free to live vicariously through me (and my silly little site) as long as you like! ;)

Bethany Elizabeth said...

Your website is gorgeous, I love it! I probably won't get a website until someone tells me I have to. I'm lazy like that. :)

Carrie Butler said...

@Bethany - Thank you so much!

Hah! Well, I think you have a reason to be "lazy" with all of that school work. ;)

Lynda R Young as Elle Cardy said...

Love the website. One day I'll get one, but not just yet. My blog takes up most of my time for now.

Carrie Butler said...

@Lynda - Thank you! Oh, that's understandable. Your blog has quite the following. :)

Jessica Therrien said...

Congrats on your website! I hope you aren't chewing your nails off waiting for query responses :) Thanks for offering to help with my virtual launch! I'll be in touch a little closer to the release date. Let me know how I can return the favor.

Carrie Butler said...

@Jessica - Thank you! Ah, not yet, but soon. Very soon! ;) You're welcome. I'm so excited for you!

Unknown said...

I think it looks great! I like the picture of you standing in, like, a corner looking cool ;-)

Carrie Butler said...

Thank you! :) It was hard to make a cool face, because I kept laughing every time the photographer went to take it. I'm horrible with pictures!

Victoria Smith said...

I checked out your website and I love it! Very excited to hear about your 20 somethings I need to read your blurb for STRENGTH it sounds so fun!

Carrie Butler said...

Thank you so much! I can't wait to share it with you! :D

Mike said...

Very nice website! I tried it once and it was a disaster. I was trying to say too many things. As I get closer to having something published - I'll have to do the same thing. Thank you for sharing!

Carrie Butler said...

Thanks, Mike! :) Oh, I know that feeling. I had to toy around with mine for a few days, before I got everything organized and squared away. You should give it another try!
