[Linkage] F is for Forums & Communities

Note: My A-Z theme is linkage. Every day (at 7:00 a.m. EST), I'm going to list three helpful industry links per letter, and then I'll ask for suggestions in the comments—that way, we can pool our resources! :)

Excellent links! I'm just getting to grips with the Absolute Write Water Cooler.

Not so much any more as I don't have time. But I used to be quite active on ABC Tales (appropriate for this month!) I got some great feedback on stories there: http://www.abctales.com/

I used to be very active on The Critique Circle & Absolute Write, but just don't have as much time as I once did.

I hear authors talk about the forum at Amazon all the time, but I don't have the time either.

I have been pretty heavy over at Absolute Write but I'm on a forum downer right now.

I have a love-hate relationship with #1. LOL
Seriously, all three are great resources. Thanks!

For some reason I had no idea Nathan Bransford had his own forums.

For me, Absolute Write has been an amazing resource, even if it did cause me a fair bit of pain. haha

Actually, I'm a member of the Google Plus Writing Group, but haven't been active much. I do know, though, that there are a lot of great writers posting there.

I joined AW a little over two years ago, and it can be a great resource. Just don't feed the trolls. :)

Carrie Butler said...

Appropriate, indeed! I'll have to check it out. Thanks, Nick! :)

Carrie Butler said...

Same here. I'm starting to think forums are best utilized pre-publishing. They help writers gather resources and form relationships with each other. :)

Carrie Butler said...

I hadn't thought about Amazon! I'll have to look into that, too. :) Thanks, Captain!

Carrie Butler said...

It's easy to get burned out on forums, isn't it? That's okay. They'll always be there, waiting. :) I like to pop in and welcome the new people on AW from time to time.

Carrie Butler said...

I met the Goddess of Grammar at AW! ;)

Carrie Butler said...

Yep! I've heard a lot of people say they head there for critiques.

Same here. I guess it's like anything else. You just have to take the bad with the good. :)

Good call, David! :)

Thank you, Dana! :)

Thanks for listing these links. It's always fun finding new ones. I'm a huge fan of Agent Query Connect, you should check it out.

Have fun with a-z.

You're very welcome, my friend! :)

Critique Circle is my forum of choice at the moment. The discussion groups are great, and I'm still much in need of critiquing!

Carrie Butler said...

It's okay to love him, too. I certainly do. LOL

No problem! :)

Carrie Butler said...

It's nice to hang out with other writers, isn't it? :) You too!

Carrie Butler said...

Hi, Laura! Thank you very much. :)

I didn't even think of those two. Good call!

Carrie Butler said...

Mine too! :) Thanks, Connie!

Carrie Butler said...

Thanks, Lee! :)

Carrie Butler said...

Lurking is fun, too. :) Thanks, Ilima!

Let this be a lesson to everyone still in school. Homework never ends! LOL

Thanks, Joylene!

Same here, Mark! This is a busy season for me. I hope things settle down a bit in the summer. :)

Hi Carrie,

Some very interesting links you have so kindly provided. I use, occasionally, "BlogCatalog". I connected with a number of writers and bloggers via that site.

I shall be ecstatic when I reach the letter "A" :)

Enjoy your Sunday, Carrie.

Gary :)

Carrie Butler said...

Hey Gary,

Oo, another good one. Thanks for sharing! :)

You too!

I don't...I've seen some on goodreads but I don't think I would have the time to keep up with it. ;(

I've never been big on forums, but I did find Lisa thru Nathan Bransford's forums. My own little treasure!

Carrie Butler said...

They can be quite the time investment... :(

Carrie Butler said...

A treasure, indeed! :)
