Contests v. Giveaways

Behold: My awkward attempt to entertain you guys this week. ;)

*Ahem* Royalty Free Music.com offers a comprehensive music library of production music for your various royalty free music needs including full albums, tracks and free music clips, loops, and beats available for download.</i> What? That sounded like I was reading a cue card? No way! ;)

Have a great week!

P.S. I don't even know what to call that video, other than a disorganized mess. lol

P.P.S.  It's time for the 3rd Writers' Platform-Building Campaign! Are you in? :D

This looks like it took a lot of time to create! You have to do it again! Very thought out and informative. Every time you post your blog surprises me! No pressure for future post ;P

Carrie Butler said...

@Patrick - Oh, yeah. No pressure there! Seriously, though, thank you. That was kind. :)

@Dave - Hah! Why thank you. :)

Hi Carrie, another campaigner popping by to join your blog - and thanks for following mine :o)

I'd say your video worked pretty well. It's one of those topics you wouldn't think you'd have to hybrid experiment about, but I guess people do cross the line between giveaway and contest once in a while.

Just out of curiosity, how many takes did you need to get it right? I can't even change the outgoing message on voice mail without messing it up two or three times.

linda said...

Oh wow, I loved the video! I have to admit I wasn't sure what the "hybrid experiment" would look like but you did a great job with it. It's fun to hear your voice, and the visuals are so cute! Did you make them all yourself?

One thing I'd add is that sometimes people forget to specify whether the contest is US-only or open internationally. Now that I'm in Taiwan I actually pay attention to that kind of stuff, haha.

Here's my entry for a blog button/sticker: wistfullylinda at gmail. Thanks Carrie! :)

Hi fellow campaigner! This is a great breakdown of what contest and giveaway are.

Kelley said...

This was amazeballs. I have absolutely no video skills, so I think you're even more awesome now :)

I'm in your group!

Golden Eagle said...

I'm definitely in for the Campaign! :) I'm excited for it.

Laila Knight said...

Oh darn it. I can't get the video to play. It's a thing they do at work where they block everything they consider naughty...and yet I'm still here. You campain sounds cool. :)

Carrie Butler said...

@Liz - You too! Thanks for stopping by! :)

@Amanda - Thank you, Amanda! I look forward to getting to know you through the campaign. :)

@JeffO - Thanks, Jeff! (That was odd. I was in the middle of responding to you, when we felt that bit of the earthquake. *Ahem* Back to business!) Hah! A few. I was so tired, I just said "Screw it!" and plowed through my notes. I noticed that my voice jumped an octave, though!

@Linda - Thanks! Yes, I hurried through doodling all of the visuals. I know some of them are a little goofy looking, but I hope they got the point across.

Oh, you're right! I never even thought of that. Good point! :)

@Alicia - Thank you and welcome! :)

@Kelley - Thanks, Kelley! I appreciate that. :D

@Prerna - It's nice to meet you, fellow Campaigner! :)

@Eagle - Me too! :D

@Laila - Hah! They must have sensed my naughtiness. (How convenient--they sensed mine and not yours. *grins*) Thank you! :)

What an amazing video. I didn't know there was such a difference between contest and giveaways. Thanks for the tips.

Jeff King said...

Ha--- that's a good one... I give away my opinion: that video was "special"

Carrie Butler said...

@Peggy - Thanks, Peggy! :D

@J - Thanks! I appreciate that. :) Yours too!

@Clarissa - Thank you! :) You're very welcome.

@Jeff - Special, hm? It was the unicorn, wasn't it? :P

"Unicorn named Steve"...So much LOL xD

That was fun and original! And it wasn't just a plain old video with a picture in the background throughout it, it was cute, for lack of a better word haha!(and more importantly, entertaining, I felt no temptation to fall asleep halfway through it or open a different window while I listened, so that's good ;]) Really enjoyed it, I like the once a month idea- a way to break out of the monotony indeed.

I especially loved the unicorn drawing and 'you'. That was just fantastic XD

@Sally - Thank you! Oh my goodness. I'm so relieved. When I played it back, I kept thinking, "This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I'm going to lose all of my followers!" You even liked Steve? Wow! Thanks, Sally! :D

@Christine - Nice to meet you, too! It's great to have you here. Thanks for the follow! :)
